Looking Into Cheer Leading Summer Camps

My oldest daughter is 14 years old and has decided that she wants to become a cheerleader. She has taken tumbling for years and would like to apply her skills to a college cheer squad in a few years. We are now looking at some Cheer leading Summer Camps for her to attend and see what cheer is all about. We come from a family of cheerleaders, myself included on that list. Devin, my daughter, has always been into sports, softball in particular but now she is totally into Cheer leading Summer Camps for a new direction.

We have found some Cheer leading Summer Camps that offer a great summer program. The one she really likes is a sleep away camp that offers a two week intensive program of tumbling, dance, and some fun activities as well. She has never tumbled in cheer shoes before and at this camp she will have to learn. The girls at the camp will be in and around her age group and I would bet that most of them want to become cheerleaders or already are.

Devin has never been away from home for that long but I think it is important to support her in her goals and at her age she is trying to figure out who she is. Going to one of the Cheer leading Summer Camps will help her to decide if this is the goal she wants to achieve it will give her some excitement and fun during the summer months. Another one of the Cheer leading Summer Camps that looks really terrific is located in Miami, Florida. Sending her there would give me an excuse to take a trip to a really beautiful place.

At any of the Cheer leading Summer Camps it seems that the programs are well rounded and are not just based on tumbling. I have read that the emphasis is on body conditioning and dance. Safety is also a concern and the kids are broken up into groups based on not just age but ability. Cheer leading Summer Camps are a great way for kids to learn a new craft and to make friends. They will get lots of exercise and have plenty of fun for the couple of weeks that they are there.

Now that we have decided that Cheer leading Summer Camps seem like a great summer plan we will need to check on availability and transportation. That Miami one is calling my name but this is not for me. Devin will make the final decision as to which camp website or brochure appeals to her the most and which camp gives her the "thats the one" feeling.
